The sponsorship program exists to provide support to those in need, particularly children and families in underserved communities. Through contributions, we are able to offer opportunities such as access to education, healthcare, and spiritual guidance.
By becoming a sponsor, you directly contribute to transforming the lives of children and families in desperate situations. We are currently looking for new sponsors! We believe that with your help, we can continue to transform lives and bring hope to those in need. We invite you to be a part of this incredible journey of giving. Together, we can make a difference.
There are many wonderful sponsorship programs, but here’s what sets JMCM apart:
We know the children personally and live with them in Uganda, creating a close-knit community of care. No child is turned away from the programs we offer, such as Bible study classes, health and hygiene workshops, music, and more. We don’t have a sponsorship waiting list—each child has the opportunity to engage and grow, regardless of sponsorship.
Sponsorship directly benefits the child’s family as it covers immediate needs like school fees, uniforms, and supplies.
Yes! Groups, school classes, or any collective effort can sponsor a child. If you’d like to organize a sponsorship as a group, please reach out to us, and we will facilitate the process.
Yes, you can choose a child to sponsor, based on availability. We will provide profiles of children in need of sponsorship, and you can select the one you wish to support.
The children range in age from 4 to 18 years, as well as young adults aged 19 to 26. They come from the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Tororo, Mpigi, Fort Portal, and Busia.
Children are enrolled in the program based on their level of vulnerability.
We work closely with the children and their families in Uganda to select appropriate schools. The choice is based on what will best support the child’s education, considering their individual needs and circumstances.
Sponsorship lasts as long as you choose. It can be renewed annually or be a long-term commitment until the child finishes school, graduates, and becomes independent.
We ask sponsors to commit to a minimum of one year. This allows for meaningful progress and real change in the lives of those you sponsor.
Yes, sponsorship is voluntary, and you can choose to stop at any time.
However, we hope that your connection with the child will encourage a long-term relationship.
The cost of sponsoring a child ranges from $30 to $50 USD per month. This amount generally covers the child’s basic needs, including food, education, healthcare, and sometimes clothing or other support services.
The cost of sponsoring a child in secondary school can vary widely, depending on the specific school and the sponsorship program. On average, the cost ranges from $300 to $600 USD per year. This usually includes:
The cost of sponsoring a child in university can vary significantly based on the university and the program of study. On average, the cost of sponsoring a university student in Uganda typically ranges from $1,000 to $2,500 USD per year. This cost generally covers:
Most children understand and speak English, as it is the official language of Uganda. They may also speak local languages such as Luganda, Swahili, or other regional dialects, depending on where they live.
Absolutely! You don’t need to be an expert writer. The most important thing is the connection and support you offer. Simple, heartfelt letters—even just a few lines—will mean a lot to your sponsored child.
You can also send a short email, and we will provide it to the child. We can help facilitate whatever form of communication you feel comfortable with.
We are happy to support both you and the child to ensure the connection improves.
All communication between the sponsor and the child is managed by us.
There will be no direct communication between the child and sponsor. This is for the protection of the child.
For example, you send a letter through us, we provide the letter to the child or family. The child or family writes back with our help, and we forward the response to you.
Yes, we encourage visits! If you wish to visit your sponsored child, please contact us to arrange the details. We can help organize visits during the appropriate times and guide you through the process.
JMCM serves children from various backgrounds, including both Christian and non-Christian children. Our focus is on helping children in need, regardless of their faith, and we believe in extending support to all those who require assistance.
At this moment, sponsorship contributions are not tax-deductible. We suggest that you check with local tax authorities for possible exceptions in your country.
We keep administrative costs as low as possible, with most of the funding going directly to support the children, families, and programs.
Administrative costs are covered by additional income from activities like agriculture, bakery, and cookery. We also use donations that are not designated for any specific purpose to cover these costs if necessary.
All members of JMCM work voluntarily and do not receive any allowance for any work. Our reward is the laughter of our children, and seeing them grow into capable, responsible adults.
The process of becoming a sponsor is simple and involves several steps:
Yes, there are many ways you can support JMCM. Besides sponsorship, you can contribute to our income-generating activities, donate supplies or buildings, or volunteer with us. Reach out to learn more about other ways to get involved!
You can also opt to either sponsor a family, or to provide additional support to the family of your sponsor child. The Family Business Empowerment Program helps families receive the necessary support to start and sustain their own businesses, contributing to their financial independence.
Sponsoring a family can support skill development for the adults in the family. This empowerment enables the family to set up and run small businesses, allowing them to generate their own income.
Rather than being “rescued,” families are equipped to use their God-given talents to support themselves and contribute to their communities. Your sponsorship helps provide the resources necessary to make this possible.
As of 2025, 100 families have received support in various forms through JCMC’s sponsorship program. This includes assistance in business training, mentorship, and startup capital.
75 of the 100 families are actively managing their businesses, with reports of steady growth or stability. Of the 25 families whose businesses are no longer operational, this has been due to financial difficulties and market conditions.
The 25% facing challenges have encountered financial difficulties and adverse market conditions. JMCM is actively supporting these families through additional training, re-skilling programs, and in some cases, helping them find alternative employment to ensure their financial needs are still met. Some families are transitioning to new types of businesses or exploring different sectors with assistance from the program.
The successful businesses are supported in the following industries:
50% of the families are in rural areas, while 50% are based in urban regions.
The businesses that are currently struggling are also in a variety of sectors, including some in agriculture and crafts. As those in these businesses are still being supported, trained, etc, a deeper breakdown of these industries in both urban and rural areas will be being gathered and analyzed at the appropriate time.
The family and local JMCM representatives collaboratively select a business based on the family’s skills, interests, and the local market’s feasibility. Due diligence includes market research, financial planning, and consulting with industry experts to assess potential risks and opportunities.
No, the start-up cost is provided as a sponsorship, and the family is not required to pay it back.
No, the families do not pay for any training costs or provide a percentage of profits to JMCM. The program is designed to be fully supportive.
It typically takes 6 to 12 months for families to begin meeting their immediate needs after starting their business. The time can vary based on the industry, location, and the initial challenges faced.
JMCM works closely with all family members involved in the business and in the family’s finances. The focus is on providing them with skills for managing and growing the family business, which includes financial literacy, marketing, and operational management.
Helping a family set up a sustainable business can vary in cost depending on the type of business and the resources required. On average, it may cost between US$500 to $2000 to establish a small-scale business that could provide long-term income for a family. This may include initial startup costs such as equipment, supplies, and training.
Yes, sponsors will receive regular updates on the family’s progress through periodic reports, including financial milestones and personal stories.
Yes, you are welcome to send letters of encouragement and support! We’ll make sure the family receives them. This can be a wonderful way to create a connection with them.
Once you’ve selected a family to sponsor, JMCM will reach out to you with more information. You will be introduced to the family, and the sponsorship process will begin, including setting expectations for communication and updates.
Another successful initiative under JMCM is the “Art for a Cause” program. This program combines creativity with community service, allowing local children to create artwork that is sold to raise funds for ministry projects.
The program commenced when a generous donor, an art enthusiast and business owner, funded the creation of an art studio at the ministry’s headquarters.
Children engage in art classes and workshops to produce paintings, drawings, and crafts. The artwork is sold at community events, online auctions, and local galleries.
The program not only raises funds but empowers children by providing them with the opportunity to showcase their creativity. The donor also offers mentorship, teaching life lessons about giving back to the community.
Over time, the program has grown in popularity, and the proceeds from the sales support various projects such as after-school programs, scholarships, and holiday gifts for families in need.
This partnership has helped expand the ministry’s impact, providing children with both immediate needs and a sense of purpose.
If you have an idea that you’d like to discuss with JMCM, please email us. We’d love to hear from you.
